THE ADDITION OF ALUNITE SHORTENS CEMENT SETTLING TIME AND INCREASES ITS STRENGTH /IN RUSSIAN/

SLAG PORTLAND CEMENT AND POZZOLAN PORTLAND CEMENT WERE STUDIED. RESULTS OBTAINED WITH THE FORMER SHOW THAT THE ADDITION OF CALCINED ALUNITE AT 600-700 DEGREES C RESULTS IN ACCELERATED SETTING. WHEN ALUNITE CONTAINS SULPHUR TRIOXIDE, SETTING TIME IS EVEN SHORTER, AND THE STRENGTH OF THE CEMENT INCREASES MARKEDLY. POZZOLAN PORTLAND CEMENT TO WHICH ALUNITE IS ADDED SETS MORE SLOWLY THAN SLAG PORTLAND CEMENT. /LCPC/RRL/
