INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS AIR-ENTRAINING ADMIXTURES AND WATER- REDUCING ADMIXTURES ON THE PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE
THIS PAPER, BASED ON TEST RESULTS OF VARIOUS AIR- ENTRAINING ADMIXTURES AND WATER-REDUCING ADMIXTURES AND ON PERFORMANCE RECORDS OF THESE MATERIALS IN CONCRETE DAMS, DESCRIBES THE INFLUENCE OF THESE ADMIXTURES ON THE PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE, ESPECIALLY WORKABILITY, COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND DURABILITY. FURTHER, STANDARDS FOR SELECTION OF ADMIXTURES AND THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS TO BE ENCOUNTERED IN USE ARE DISCUSSED, AND IT IS CONCLUDED THAT: (1) SELECTION OF ADMIXTURES SHOULD BE SPECIFIED TO BE BASED ONLY ON TESTS ON CONCRETE, AND (2) IN USING A WATER-REDUCING ADMIXTURE IT IS MOST PRACTICAL TO USE A SUITABLE AIR-ENTRAINING ADMIXTURE ALONG WITH THE WATER-REDUCING ADMIXTURE TO SUPPLEMENT DEFICIENCIES IN ENTRAINED AIR. /CRIC/FESR/LCPC/RRL/A/
