THE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE UNDER COMBINED SHEAR AND DIRECT STRESS
THIRTY-NINE HOLLOW CYLINDERS, MADE OF FIVE DIFFERENT CONCRETE MIXES, WERE TESTED UNDER DIRECT COMPRESSION AND TORSION TO STUDY THE FAILURE OF CONCRETE UNDER THE ENSUING BIAXIAL STATE OF STRESS. THE RESULTS OF THESE TESTS ARE COMPARED WITH SIMILAR TESTS BY OTHER INVESTIGATORS AND DISCUSSED IN RELATION TO VARIOUS FAILURE CRITERIA. /RRL/A/
