DOSAGE OF CHLORIDES PRESENT IN HARDENED CONCRETE (IN FRENCH)

THE DOSAGE OF CHLORIDES PRESENT IN HARDENED CONCRETE IS GENERALLY CARRIED OUT BY WATER EXTRACTION OF CHLORIDES AND DOSAGE OF CALCIUM IONS IN THE AQUEOUS EXTRACT BY A CLASSICAL ANALYTICAL METHOD. THIS TECHNIQUE GIVES ONLY VALID RESULTS WHEN THE TOTALITY OF CHLORIDES IS EXTRACTED FROM THE HARDENED CONCRETE. THE STUDY OF VARIOUS LIXIVIATION METHODS, NAMELY THE NITRIC ATTACK AND THE CRUSHING OF CONCRETE UNDER WATER, SHOWS THAT IN MOST CASES THE EXTRACTION OF CHLORIDES IS INCOMPLETE. THE STUDY OF THE FACTORS UPON WHICH DEPENDS THE EFFICACY OF THE EXTRACTION HAS LED TO A NEW METHOD OF EXTRACTING THE TOTALITY OF THE CHLORIDES PRESENT WHICH DOES NOT ENTAIL ANY ELABORATE EQUIPMENT. THE VALUE OF THIS METHOD HAS BEEN CHECKED WHEN APPLYING IT TO CONCRETES CONTAINING A KNOWN AMOUNT OF CHLORIDES. /LCPC/RRL/A/
