DIAGRAMS FOR THE SIGNIFICANT DOUBLE AMPLITUDES OF THE SWAYING, ROLLING AND YAWING MOTIONS OF MOORED SHIPS IN IRREGULAR SEAS
The significant double amplitudes of the swaying, rolling and yawing motions of moored ships are presented in form of diagrams. The ship's dimensions are characterized by length, length-beam ratio, beam draft ratio and block coefficient. Sea States indicated range from Sea State 3 through 7. Three principal wave headings with respect to the longitudinal axis of the ship are also indicated. The ships are assumed to be moored by a ten point moor in 400 ft of unprotected water. The response operators on which the spectral analysis for this work are based on are obtained from J.K.K. Look Lab Report No. 26. This is a report on part of a continuing numerical study by L.H. Seidl and his students of the response to waves of moored ships in the six degrees of freedom: surging, heaving and pitching (SuHP) and swaying, rolling and yawing (SwRY).
