FLAME-PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF SODIUM AND POTASSIUM OXIDE IN CEMENTS AND CEMENT RAW MATERIALS
DETAILED ANALYSIS INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FLAME-PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF SODIUM OXIDE AND POTASSIUM OXIDE IN CEMENT AND IN RAW MATERIALS FOR CEMENT MANUFACTURE ARE GIVEN. THE ADVANTAGE OF THIS METHOD IS THAT IT DISPENSES WITH THE NEED TO TAKE ACCOUNT - AS HAS HITHERTO HAD TO BE DONE - OF THE PARTICULAR AND OFTEN VERY VARIABLE CALCIUM CONTENT IN THE STANDARD SOLUTIONS BY THE ADDITION OF A CAESIUM CHLORIDE/ ALUMINIUM NITRATE BUFFER SOLUTION. THE SUITABILITY OF THE METHOD WAS VERIFIED WITH REFERENCE TO ASTM STANDARD SPECIMENS. THE STANDARD DEVIATION FOR A TEST SERIES COMPRISING TEN DETERMINATIONS WAS FOUND TO BE 0.02% (ABSOLUTE) FOR SODIUM OXIDE AND POTASSIUM OXIDE. /AUTHOR/
