THE VOLUMETRIC DETERMINATION OF POTASSIUM IN CEMENT ANALYSIS WITH POLARISATION CURRENT TITRATION
THE SERVICEABILITY OF H. J. SCHMIDT'S TITANIUM NITRATE METHOD WITH POLARIZATION CURRENT TITRATION FOR THE DETERMINATION OF POTASSIUM IN CEMENTS, CLINKERS AND IN A PIECE OF COATING FROM A LEPOL KILN IS INVESTIGATED. AS THE RESULTS OF OUR INVESTIGATIONS SHOW, THE HIGH SENSITIVITY AND THE GOOD REPRODUCIBILITY OF THIS METHOD ENABLE IT TO BE USED ALSO IN CEMENT ANALYSIS, ALTHOUGH HERE THE POTASSIUM CONTENT IS ONLY ABOUT ONE-TWENTY-FIFTH OF THAT WHICH H. J. SCHMIDT WAS DEALING WITH IN HIS INVESTIGATIONS ON POTASH FERTILIZERS. WITH REGARD TO SAMPLES CONTAINING SULPHIDE (PORTLAND BLAST FURNACE CEMENT, REDUCED CLINKER, FRAGMENTS OF COATING MATERIAL) IT SHOULD BE INSURED THAT, AFTER DECOMPOSITION WITH ACID, ANY REMAINS OF SULPHIDE IONS ARE ELIMINATED FROM THE TEST SOLUTION BY SUITABLE METHODS. IF THIS IS NOT DONE, VARIABLE AND TOO LOW RESULTS WILL BE OBTAINED. /AUTHOR/
