WORKABILITY OF CONCRETE: A COMPARISON OF EXISTING TESTS
EXISTING TESTS FOR DETERMINING THE WORKABILITY OF FRESH CONCRETE HAVE BEEN EXAMINED AND COMPARED. THE COMPACTING FACTOR, SLUMP, AND VEBE TESTS, AS WELL AS A SETTLEMENT-TIME RECORDER USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH VEBE APPARATUS, HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED. ALTHOUGH NONE OF THE TESTS COULD INDICATE ALL THE INDIVIDUAL PROPERTIES WHICH ARE COLLECTIVELY TERMED WORKABILITY, THE VEBE TEST WAS FOUND TO GIVE A VERY SATISFACTORY INDICATION OF THE EASE WITH WHICH THE CONCRETE CAN BE VIBRATED INTO THE SHAPE OF THE FORMWORK. /AUTHOR/
