PELLET TERMINAL STRETCHES MILE TO SEA
Description of novel iron ore pellets, shiploading terminal, extending mile to sea, built in Port Latta ( Tasmania ) to handle 2500 tph output from Savage River magnetite mine; basic concept of shiploading facility was to create buoy-type, offshore anchorage that vessels could approach and depart from with or without tug assistance; pellets are loaded with help of 48-in. wide, 5860 ft long approach conveyor and two slewing-bridge type shiploaders; details of anchorage of structures are shown.
