DEVELOPMENT OF A SYSTEM FOR HIGH-SPEED MEASUREMENT OF PAVEMENT ROUGHNESS, FINAL REPORT
A BRIEF BACKGROUND OF PROJECT RESEARCH EFFORTS IS GIVEN REFERENCING PERTINENT PROJECT REPORTS. DETAILED DISCUSSIONS OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES DURING THIS PAST YEAR, NOT COVERED IN PAST REPORTS, ARE PROVIDED. THESE DISCUSSIONS INCLUDE WHEEL REPLACEMENT INVESTIGATIONS, RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN CONSTRUCTION CONTROL, SPECTRAL ANALYSIS METHODS, MAYS ROAD METER CORRELATION STUDIES, AND PSI MODEL INVESTIGATIONS. SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON NEW METHODS FOR USING SPECTRAL ANALYSIS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF VARIOUS ROAD PROFILE CHARACTERISTICS. EXTENSION OF THESE NEW METHODS MAY PROVIDE THE BEST APPROACH YET AVAILABLE TO DEVELOPMENT OF ADEQUATE ROAD PROFILE SPECIFICATIONS AND CONSTRUCTION CONTROL. /AUTHOR/
