ESTIMATION OF THE TENSILE STRENGTH OF ASPHALT CEMENTS IN THIN FILMS
THE RESPONSE OF ASPHALT CEMENTS IN THIN FILMS TO TENSILE STRESS WAS STUDIED IN DETAIL. WITH BASIS ON THE DATA COLLECTED, A TECHNIQUE WAS DEVELOPED TO ENABLE ESTIMATION OF THE TENSILE STRENGTH FILM THICKNESS RELATIONSHIP FOR ASPHALT CEMENTS OF NORMALLY USED CONSISTENCY, FOR NORMAL TEMPERATURES ABOVE THE GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE, AND FOR RATES OF DEFORMATION RANGING FROM 0.005 TO 1.0 IN./MIN. THE TECHNIQUE REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF A "BASE CURVE" AND A SHIFT FACTOR FOR EACH OF THE THREE VARIABLES. /JM/
