CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF A SPECIAL KIND OF STRIPPING ("PHENOMENE DE SOUPE"). OBSERVATIONS CARRIED OUT ON THE A.13 MORTORWAY CONSTRUCTION SITE /IN FRENCH/
DURING THE LAYING OF BITUMINOUS BASE COURSES ON THE A.13 MOTORWAY, SLIGHT STRIPPING PHENOMENA WERE OBSERVED IN BITUMINOUS MIXTURES CONTAINING FLINT AGGREGATES. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED, AND OF THE PHENOMENON AS IT OCCURRED. OBSERVATIONS SHOWED THAT LONGER DRYING TIME RESULTED IN THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE PHENOMENON. REMEDIAL METHODS ARE PROPOSED: INCREASE IN DRYING EFFICIENCY, USE OF SILICONE ADMIXTURES AND SLOPES, AND ADDITION OF QUICK LIME AS EXTRA FILLER. THE LATTER SEEMS TO BE THE MOST EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUE. /LCPC(A)/RRL/
