THE INFLUENCE OF THAWING SALTS ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURE SAMPLES /IN GERMAN/
TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON SIMILARLY PRODUCED MARSHALL SAMPLES OF FINE ASPHALTIC CONCRETE RICH IN CHIPPINGS, THE POROSITY OF WHICH HAD BEEN BROUGHT ABOUT BY HAMMER COMPACTION. THREE SAMPLES WERE STORED IN AIR, THREE IN DISTILLED WATER, AND THREE IN HALF-SATURATED, AND THREE IN SATURATED, THAWING SALT SOLUTION, NACL, AND ALL WERE SUBJECTED TO WET-DRY AND FREEZING-THAWING CYCLES. VARIOUS POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE INFLUENCES ON THE VOLUME AND STABILITY WERE DETERMINED, WHICH SHOWED THAT THAWING-SALTS ONLY CAUSE DAMAGE TO OPEN-TEXTURED SURFACINGS. /FG/RRL/
