THE USE OF CLASSICAL, THEROMODYNAMIC METHODS FOR DETERMINING COMPRESSION FUNCTION AND COMPRESSION WORK IN COMPACTION ARE DISCUSSED AND COMPARED WITH THE SIMPLE COMPRESSION TEST. THE SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE THERMODYNAMIC SYSTEM, THE WORKING PROCESSES, AND ALTERATIONS ON THE CONDITION OF STORED MATERIALS AND MIXING SYSTMES ARE EXPLAINED.
