THE INFLUENCE OF THAWING SALTS ON THE ADHESION OF BITUMINOUS BINDERS AND STONE UNDER THE ACTION OF WATER AND FROST /IN GERMAN/

ALTHOUGH PRIOR OBSERVATIONS SHOW THAT ASPHALT AND TAR ROADS ARE NOT ATTACKED BY THAWING SALTS, THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT, AT THE SUGGESTION OF THE FORSCHUNGSGESELLSCHAFT FUR DAS STRASSENWESEN, LET THREE RESEARCH CONTRACTS DURING 1966, UNDER WHICH THE INFLUENCE OF THAWING SALTS ON THE INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES WAS TO BE STUDIED MORE CLOSELY. THE RESULTS OF THESE STUDIES SHOWED CONCLUSIVELY THAT THE SALTS WERE NOT HARMFUL. /FG/RRL/
