METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE WET ABRASION RESISTANCE OF BITUMINOUS SLURRY SEALS
THE ESSENTIAL PROPERTIES OF BITUMINOUS SLURRIES ARE GRIPPING CAPACITY, LOW WATER PERMEABILITY AND HIGH RESISTANCE TO ABRASION, BOTH WHEN WET AND DRY. IN THIS REPORT, A MEASURING PROCESS FOR DETERMINING WET ABRASION IS DESCRIBED. A SAMPLE OF THE SLURRY IS DRIED OUT, RE-WETTED AND BRUSHED WITH WIRE BRUSHES DRIVEN BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR. AFTER BRUSHING THE SAMPLE IS WEIGHED, AND THE LOSS IN WEIGHT DUE TO ABRASION IS DETERMINED. /RRL/
