STATE OF DEVELOPMENT AND TRENDS IN BITUMINOUS ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN SWEDEN /IN GERMAN/
THE DEVELOPMENT OF BITUMINOUS ROAD CONSTRUCTION IS DISCUSSED AND RECENT INVESTIGATIONS ARE DESCRIBED. ALTHOUGH 25% OF THE ROAD NETWORK CONSISTS OF CONCRETE ROADS, THE USE OF BITUMINOUS ROADBASES AND SURFACINGS FOR HIGH-CLASS CONSTRUCTION IS BECOMING MORE PREVALENT, PARTICULARLY IN TOWNS. IN ORDER TO DEVELOP A SURFACING WHICH IS RESISTANT TO BOTH DEICING SALTS AND STUDDED TIRES, BUT WHICH SIMULTANEOUSLY SATISFIES REQUIREMENTS REGARDING LIGHTNESS AND SKIDDING RESISTANCE, TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON DENSE SURFACINGS (TOPEKA, AFB, ROLLED ASPHALT) INTO WHICH CHIPPINGS WERE ROLLED. /FG/RRL/
