NON-DESTRUCTIVE DEFLECTION MEASUREMENTS ON PAVEMENT SURFACES WITH THE BENKELMAN BEAM OR AN ANALOGOUS MEASURING DEVICE /IN DUTCH/

AFTER SOME INTRODUCTORY REMARKS ON THE VALUE OF DEFLECTION MEASUREMENTS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE BEARING CAPACITY, QUALITY, AND DESIGN OF PAVEMENTS, A DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF VARIOUS MEASURING DEVICES, SUCH AS THE BENKELMAN BEAM AND THE LACROIX DEFLECTOGRAPH. THE MEASURING METHODS AND STATISTICAL EVALUATION OF THE RESULTS ARE DESCRIBED. FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE MEASUREMENTS ARE DISCUSSED, AND THE INTERPRETATION OF THE MEASURING RESULTS IS EXAMINED. THE APPLICATIONS OF DEFLECTION CRITERIA TO CLASSIFICATION AND RATING, CALCULATIONS FOR RECONSTRUCTION, AND PAVEMENT DESIGN ARE REVIEWED. /SWOV/RWL/RRL/
