EFFICIENT USE OF CATHODIC PROTECTION OF STEEL IN SEA WATER
This Russian study deals with the effect of formation of lime layers over metal surfaces on the cathodic protection of carbon steel in sea water. As the film is being formed, the current density necessary for maintaining the protection potential gradually diminishes. After the film is completely formed, cathodic protection may be achieved by either periodic polarization or continuous polarization using low current density.
