ASPHALT SURFACE RECLAMATION WITH AN EMULSION STABILIZED BASE IN THE BOROUGH OF ETOBICOKE
THE URBANIZATION OF RURAL AREAS IN PROXIMITY TO LARGE CITIES HAS BROUGHT WITH IT INCREASING DEMANDS FOR HIGHER QUALITY ROAD SURFACES ON THE ENTIRE ROAD NETWORK OF THE AREA CONCERNED. THE USE OF A 'BROS PREPARATOR' FOR PULVERIZATION OF THE PRE-EXISTING ROAD SURFACE ALLOWS THE IN-PLACE MATERIAL TO BE UPGRADED THROUGH THE USE OF BITUMINOUS EMULSION STABILIZATION. THE USE OF THIS PREPARATORY METHOD WITH FOLLOWING ROAD MIX OPERATIONS OVER STREETS WHICH HAVE SUFFERED FROM WATERMAIN INSTALLATION HAS BEEN SHOWN TO PROVIDE A RECONSTRUCTION AT THE SAME COST AS PATCHING. LABORATORY DESIGN METHODS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE INDICATED. /CGRA/
