TWO POINTS OF VIEW ON DEEP STRENGTH ASPHALT AS VIEWED BY THE MUNICIPALITY AND THE CONTRACTOR
THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES ARE LISTED OF THE USE OF A FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTED OF ASPHALT CONCRETE SURFACING OVER AN ASPHALT CONCRETE BASE. THESE ARE PRESENTED BY A CANADIAN MUNICIPALITY AND BY ONE OF THE CONTRACTORS OPERATING IN THAT AREA, AND DEALS WITH URBAN RESIDENTIAL AND INDUSTRIAL ROADS. ON THE BASIS OF REDUCED EXCAVATION COSTS AND PROBLEMS, INCREASED ASPHALT CONCRETE PRODUCTION EFFICIENCIES, REDUCED GRANULAR MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS, AND IMPROVED CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS, THE PAVEMENT TYPE IS DEEMED ADVANTAGEOUS FROM BOTH POINTS OF VIEW. /CGRA/
