PRESTRESSED CONCRETE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS CAN HAVE INCREASED DUCTILITY AND RESERVE DEFLECTION CAPABILITY WITH RECTANGULAR SPIRAL CONFINEMENT REINFORCEMENT IN THE TOP FLANGES. AN ANALYTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION BASED ON TESTS TO FAILURE OF 26 I-BEAMS AND T-BEAMS IS DISCUSSED.
