DEFLECTION BEHAVIOR OF SPIRALLY CONFINED PRESTRESSED CONCRETE FLANGED BEAMS
PRESTRESSED CONCRETE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS CAN HAVE INCREASED DUCTILITY AND RESERVE DEFLECTION CAPABILITY WITH RECTANGULAR SPIRAL CONFINEMENT REINFORCEMENT IN THE TOP FLANGES. AN ANALYTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION BASED ON TESTS TO FAILURE OF 26 I-BEAMS AND T-BEAMS IS DISCUSSED. CRITERIA ARE PRESENTED FOR EVALUATING DEFLECTION IN THE ELASTIC, ELASTO- PLASTIC AND PLASTIC LOADING STAGES, AND EQUATIONS ARE PRESENTED TO AID THE ENGINEER. /PCIJ/
