SHEAR STRENGTH OF PRESTRESSED BEAMS WITH THIN WEBS FAILING IN INCLINED COMPRESSION
A SERIES OF 26 PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS WAS TESTED TO INVESTIGATE THE UPPER LIMIT OF THE SHEAR STRENGTH, ASSOCIATED WITH INCLINED COMPRESSIVE FAILURE OF THE WEB. THE CROSS SECTION, WEB REINFORCEMENT, PRESTRESS, AND SHEAR SPAN WERE VARIED. THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE BEHAVIOR AT FAILURE COULD BE REPRESENTED BY A TRUSS FORMED BY THE STIRRUPS AND CONCRETE STRUTS IN THE WEB FURTHER STRENGTHENED BY THE FLANGES. DESIGN FORMULAS ARE SUGGESTED. /AUTHOR/
