A STRESS AND TIME DEPENDENT STRENGTH LAW FOR CONCRETE
THE STRENGTH OF A CONCRETE SPECIMEN DEPENDS ON THE HISTORY OF LOADING. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS PERTAINING TO CONCENTRIC LOADING CONDITIONS, AS TYPIFIED BY CONSTANT STRESS, CONSTANT STRESS RATE AND CONSTANT STRAIN RATE, ARE REVIEWED. STRENGTH LAWS ARE PROPOSED THAT MAY BE USED TO PREDICT CHANGES IN CONCRETE STRENGTH UNDER ANY VARYING OR CONSTANT SUSTAINED LOAD HISTORY. THE SIMULTANEOUS EFFECT OF CONTINUED HYDRATION IS CONSIDERED. PREDICTED STRENGTHS ARE FOUND TO BE IN GOOD QUALITATIVE AND REASONABLE QUANTITATIVE AGREEMENT WITH EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS, IN SPITE OF MANY SIMPLIFYING ASSUMPTIONS. /AUTHOR/TRRL/
