EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON THE ACCELERATION OF HARDENING OF CONCRETE BY HEATING
THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE EFFECT OF THE HEAT TREATMENT OF CONCRETE CARRIED OUT AT THE CENTRE EXPERIMENTAL DU BATIMENT ET DES TRAVAUX PUBLICS. THE HEAT TREATMENT OF CONCRETE ENABLES THE STRENGTH NECESSARY FOR THE HANDLING OF UNITS TO BE REACHED MORE RAPIDLY. THE IMMEDIATE PROPERTIES ARE ADEQUATE BUT STRONG TREATMENT SERIOUSLY AFFECT LATER CHARACTERISTICS. THE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE IS NOT IMPROVED, THE REACTION ALONE IS ACCELERATED. THE COMPOSITION OF CONCRETE IS IMPORTANT FOR OBTAINING IMPROVED STRENGTH. IT IS POSSIBLE TO REDUCE EVAPORATION BY PLACING A HOOD ON THE MOULD, THE EXPANSION BY PRESETTING, AND THE ANISOTROPY BY SCREWING A PLATE ON THE CONCRETE.
