MANAGEMENT OF MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEMS
Current surveys indicate that of all of the various sectors of material handling activity, the method and location of parts and materials storage and their feed-in to the process as a whole is receiving the most attention. In more than half the plants recently surveyed, the material handling responsibility in a planning, or methods sense is placed in their production or Manufacturing Engineering Departments. Few plants are tackling material handling methods improvement on a formal program basis, but the few that do are achieving some remarkable results.
