THEORETICAL METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE SHRINKAGE OF CONCRETE
A GENERAL METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE SHRINKAGE OF CONCRETE, BASED ON LINEAR DIFFUSION THEORY, IS DESCRIBED. EQUATIONS AND GRAPHICAL SOLUTIONS FOR THE SHRINKAGE OF SLABS, RECTANGULAR BEAMS AND CIRCULAR COLUMNS ARE PRESENTED AND APPLIED TO A WIDE VARIETY OF PUBLISHED EXPERIMENTAL DATA. THE ACCURACY OF THE PROPOSED METHOD APPEARS TO BE UNAFFECTED BY THE MIX PROPORTIONING, SPECIMEN SIZE OR SHAPE, SYMMETRICAL STEEL REINFORCING, OR AMBIENT RELATIVE HUMIDITY.
