NEW STRAIN METER FOR CONCRETE
THE MANUFACTURE AND EVALUATION OF A NEW SMALL STRAIN METER SUITABLE FOR AUTOMATIC RECORDING IS DESCRIBED. FACTORS INFLUENCING ITS POSSIBLE BEHAVIOR ARE ASSESSED; IT SEEMS LIKELY TO PROVE USEFUL IN A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS. IT IS EASILY MANUFACTURED AND RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE, ITS COST BEING GOVERNED BY THAT OF THE E. R. S. (ELECTRICAL-RESISTANCE STRAIN) GAUGES EMPLOYED. EPOXY-BACKED FOIL GAUGES WERE USED. THIS INFORMATION SHOULD PROVE USEFUL IN THE EVALUATION OF INTERNAL STRAIN METERS FOR CONCRETE. /DOT/
