LATERAL CRACKING OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT
EXPANSION OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENTS WAS MEASURED AT A SERIES OF TRANSVERSE JOINTS. AMBIENT, SURFACE AND SURFACE-BASE COURSE INTERFACE TEMPERATURES WERE RECORDED. DATA WAS COLLECTED OVER THE PERIOD OF FEBRUARY, 1969, THROUGH FEBRUARY, 1970, EXCLUDING THE MONTHS OF MAY THROUGH AUGUST. AT VARIOUS TIMES, PAVEMENT SAMPLES WERE OBTAINED TO DETERMINE CERTAIN PROPERTIES OF THE AGING ASPHALT. THE DATA WAS EVALUATED TO DETERMINE THE EFFECTS OF PAVEMENT AGE AND EXPANSION IN THE INITIAL LATERAL CRACKING OF PAVEMENTS. /AUTHOR/
