VICKERS NUCLEAR POWERED CONTAINER SHIP
Recent developments in increasing use of containers for transporting dry cargo has brought about new type of ship; principle of containerization and some of advantages in application of nuclear power to container ship; proposal is described together with nuclear reactor and propulsion plant; it can be shown that for container ship, nuclear power begins to become competitive at about 40,000 shp, which by todays standard is high; extensive experience of pressurized water reactors both on land and sea has shown this reactor type to be highly reliable.
