SOCIOECONOMIC STUDY OF A PROPOSED RAIL-LIKE RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM FOR THE ST. LOUIS METROPOLITAN AREA
The proposed transit system will yield both positive and negative effects on the residents. Among the benefits are the potential reduction in travel time, reduced congestion and demand for highway facilities, improved access to employment opportunities, less pronounced "urban sprawl," and enhanced air quality. The negative consequences include the sizeable cost of the system, and the potential displacement of persons and activities.
