A DIGITAL DATA RECORDING SYSTEM DEVELOPED FOR USE WITH THE VIRGINIA MODEL 2 SKID RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT VEHICLE
THE VIRGINIA MODEL 2 SKID RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT VEHICLE THAT WAS DEVELOPED IN 1967 COULD PRODUCE A LARGE AMOUNT OF DATA IN A SHORT TIME. AVAILABLE PERSONNEL WERE ALMOST OVERWHELMED BY THE TASK OF MANUALLY READING AND INTERPRETING THE INDIVIDUAL MEASUREMENTS. A DIGITAL DATA RECORDING SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED, FABRICATED AND INSTALLED IN THE MODEL 2 VEHICLE TO ELIMINATE MOST OF THE MANUAL EFFORT. THIS REPORT IS DEVOTED TO A LIMITED DISCUSSION OF THE COMPLETE DIGITAL DATA HANDLING SYSTEM, TO PARAMETERS THAT WERE CONSIDERED IN DESIGNING THE PART OF THE SYSTEM WHICH IS MOUNTED IN THE MODEL 2 VEHICLE, TO THE FABRICATION OF COMPONENTS AND TO A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEMS OPERATION. /AUTHOR/
