IMPROVEMENTS IN THE ADHESION OF ANION-ACTIVE BITUMEN EMULSION BY THE ADMIXTURE OF ALKYL AND ARYL SILICONES
INVESTIGATIONS CARRIED OUT OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS IN EAST GERMANY HAVE SHOWN THAT THE CORRECT SELECTION AND ADMIXTURE OF AN ALKYL OR ARYL SILICONE, SUCH AS FOR EXAMPLE SODIUM, CALCIUM OR METHYL SILICONE, CAN SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE ADHESION OF ANION-ACTIVE BITUMEN EMULSIONS. THESE ADMIXTURES PRODUCE A DIRECT CONTACT BETWEEN THE BITUMEN AND THE SURFACE OF THE AGGREGATE WITHOUT A WATERY LAYER BEING FORMED BETWEEN THEM. /TRRL/
