PRODUCTION OF A SIMPLE SURFACE TREATMENT WITH DIFFERENT BITUMEN EMULSIONS
IN ORDER TO OBTAIN FURTHER INFORMATION ON CATION-ACTIVE BITUMEN EMULSIONS, A FULL-SCALE EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT IN 1969 IN GERMANY IN WHICH FOUR DIFFERENT ANION-ACTIVE BITUMEN EMULSIONS WERE USED IN A SIMPLE SURFACE TREATMENT. SHORTCOMINGS AND FAULTS ARE REPORTED. THE AUTHOR CONSIDERS THAT THE CATION-ACTIVE EMULSION MUST BE DEVELOPED IN SUCH A WAY THAT AFTER THE DEPOSITING OF THE CHIPPINGS IT QUICKLY BREAKS AND VERY RAPIDLY SETS. THE VISCOSITY MUST ALSO BE INCREASED IN ORDER TO AVOID SOME OF THE ERRORS SHOWN. /TRRL/
