INFLUENCE OF THE DEGREE OF BRIGHTNESS ON THE DEFORMATION RESISTANCE OF BITUMINOUS SURFACINGS EXPOSED TO HEAT

LIGHT-COLORED ROAD SURFACES WHICH WERE INSTALLED YEARS AGO IN HAMBURG FOR SAFETY REASONS HAVE SHOWN GREATER STABILITY BECAUSE THEY ARE LESS AFFECTED BY HEAT FROM THE SUN. LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS ARE DESCRIBED WHICH INDICATE A LINK BETWEEN THE DEGREE OF BRIGHTENING AND THE DEFORMATION RESISTANCE. IT WAS ALSO SHOWN THAT FINE GRAVELS RESULT IN THE MAXIMUM BRIGHTENING EFFECT. /TRRL/
