REPAIR OF THE SURFACING OF A BRIDGE DECK BY GUSSASPHALT
THE WATERPROOFING COURSE CONSISTS OF ASPHALT POWDER AND BITUMEN WITH A POLYPROPYLENE ADDITIVE TO IMPROVE THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE MATERIAL. THE COURSE WAS APPLIED IN THE CONVENTIONAL WAY. THE BASE COURSE HAS A STANDARD GRANULOMETRIC COMPOSITION, AND CONTAINS A HARD BITUMEN MADE THIXOTROPIC BY THE ADDITION OF A LIMESTONE FILLER AND POLYPROPYLENE. THE THIXOTROPIC PROPERTIES OF THE BINDER ARE MAINLY USED IN THE WEARING COURSE; DURING SPREADING, THE AGGREGATES ARE RETAINED BY MEANS OF A MOBILE, VARIABLE-SPEED RAKE FIXED ON THE FINISHER'S BLADE, THUS GIVING NON-SKID CHARACTERISTICS SUPERIOR TO THOSE OF STANDARD GUSSASPHALT. /IRRD-IRF/
