RESEARCH ON EMULSION FOR ASPHALTIC CONCRETE
THE AUTHORS STRESS THE IMPORTANT ROLE OF THE BREAKING RATE OF EMULSIONS, (BREAKING RATE INDEX VARYING FROM 80 TO 100 PERCENT) WHICH ENABLES AN ASPHALTIC CONCRETE TO BE OBTAINED, THE PROPERTIES OF WHICH ARE SIMILAR TO THOSE OF HOT ASPHALTIC CONCRETE. SIMILARLY, THE DEGREE OF DISPERSION OF EMULSIONS INFLUENCES THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE. WITH REGARD TO THE BINDER CONTENT, STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT EMULSIONS CONTAINING 50 TO 55 PERCENT BITUMEN ARE THE MOST SATISFACTORY. THE NATURE OF THE EMULSIFYING AGENT ALSO AFFECTS EMULSION PROPERTIES. VARIOUS EMULSIFYING AGENTS ARE COMPARED. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE EMULSION DEPEND ALSO ON THE TEMPERATURE AT MANUFACTURE AND ADMIXTURES USED. /LCPC-RRL/
