TWO NEW APPARATUS FOR STUDYING THE FATIGUE OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES
DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE EQUIPMENT WHICH WAS DEVELOPED AT THE "CENTRE DE RECHERCHES DE GRAND COURONNE" TO STUDY THE FATIGUE RESISTANCE OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES, AND ENABLES BITUMINOUS MIXTURE SAMPLES TO BE SUBJECTED TO STRESSES REPRODUCING FAIRLY ACCURATELY THOSE RECORDED ON EXPERIMENTAL ROADS UNDER TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. A NEW APPARATUS WAS DESIGNED WHICH WILL FACILITATE THE APPLICATION OF SHEARING STRESS IN A WIDE RANGE OF MODULI OF RIGIDITY. RESULTS OF TESTS CARRIED OUT FOR HIGH ELASTIC MODULUS VALUES SEEM TO SHOW THAT IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO DEFINE A LIMIT-FATIGUE. /TRRL/
