FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF BRIDGE CURVED IN PLAN
THE ANALYSIS OF ISOTROPIC AND ORTHOTROPIC BRIDGE DECKS CURVED IN PLAN IS PRESENTED. STIFFNESS MATRICES FOR SEGMENTAL AND QUADRILATERAL ELEMENTS FOR PLATE BENDING ARE USED IN GENERAL FINITE ELEMENT SLAB PROGRAMS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF SIMPLY SUPPORTED AND CONTINUOUS ISOTROPIC AND ORTHOTROPIC BRIDGES. COMPARISON WITH PUBLISHED RESULTS DEMONSTRATES THE HIGH DEGREE OF ACCURACY OBTAINABLE WITH THE AUTHORS SEGMENTAL PLATE BENDING ELEMENT. TESTS ON CONTINUOUS UNIFORM AND VARYING SECTION PERSPEX SLAB ON POINT STRIPS ARE DESCRIBED AND USED AS FURTHER EVIDENCE FOR THE VALIDITY OF THE PROPOSED ELEMENT. /A/TRRL/
