WARM-OVERLOADING OF WELDED STRUCTURES
WARM-OVERLOADING CAN REDUCE THE RISK OF BRITTLE FRACTURE IN STEEL STRUCTURES. THIS PAPER PROVIDES GUIDELINES ON THE USE OF THIS TECHNIQUE FOR BRIDGE STRUCTURES. BASICALLY THE PROCEDURE INVOLVES LOADING THE STRUCTURE ABOVE THE ANTICIPATED MAXIMUM SERVICE LOAD, AT A TEMPERATURE WHICH WILL ENSURE THAT PREMATURE BRITTLE FRACTURE DOES NOT OCCUR. /TRRL/
