      <description><![CDATA[This paper takes the influence on the axial stress distribution due to variation of both the width of component plates of the flanges and their distances to the neutral axis into account to form a warping displacement function for the box girder, and presents a new kind of thin walled box girder element for the analysis of shear lag effect. The stiffness matrix of the element is derived from the theory of minimum potential energy. Comparing the calculation results with those obtained from the model test and the other methods, the method proposed in this paper is proved to be exact as well as simple.]]></description>
