Mileage, frequency, and duration of travel per person were used to assess risk exposure. Mileage-based fatal crash risk increased greatly among male (relative risk (RR) = 1.73; 95% CI: 1.62, 1.83) and female (RR = 2.08; 95% CI: 1.97, 2.19) drivers from ages 60-69 years to ages >=70 years. Adjusting for their density of risk exposure, fatal crash risk increased only slightly from ages 60-69 years to ages >=70 years among male (RR = 1.09; 95% CI: 1.03, 1.15) and female (RR = 1.22; 95% CI: 1.16, 1.29) drivers. While ubiquitous in epidemiologic research, mileage-based assessments can produce misleading accounts of driver risk. Risk-exposure density incorporates multiple components of travel and reduces bias caused by any single indicator of risk exposure.]]> Thu, 17 Oct 2019 16:10:41 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1607492 The Next Generation of Travel Statistical Analysis https://trid.trb.org/View/1633215 Tue, 16 Jul 2019 16:32:17 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1633215 Understanding Travel Behavior Data Availability and Gaps Scan https://trid.trb.org/View/1633216 Tue, 16 Jul 2019 16:32:17 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1633216 The E-Bike Potential: Estimating the Effect of E-Bikes on Person Miles Travelled and Greenhouse Gas Emissions https://trid.trb.org/View/1630071 Fri, 28 Jun 2019 11:37:45 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1630071 Developing a Guideline for Setting Targets for National Performance Management Measures to Assess Performance of the National Highway System in South Carolina https://trid.trb.org/View/1595602 Tue, 14 May 2019 08:57:22 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1595602 Understanding Travel Behavior Research Scan https://trid.trb.org/View/1539894 Tue, 11 Sep 2018 14:47:19 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1539894 Motorcyclists' Self-Reported Riding Mileage Versus Actual Riding Mileage in the Following Year https://trid.trb.org/View/1490969 Tue, 19 Dec 2017 09:32:19 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1490969
