Features of the SSCV, which is self-propelled and classed by LR as a crane/accommodation vessel, will include: two 6000-tonne American Hoist revolving cranes ; four 4500-shp azimuthing thrusters, four 4000-hp retractable thrusters, and two 2300-hp tunnel thrusters; two hydraulic pile-hammers; a computer-controlled ballasting system; a d.p. system; sixteen 40-t anchors; deck load capacity of 10,000 t, and free deck area of 8000 sq m; helideck for two helicopters; eight 5500-kW main Diesel generator sets; saturation diving system; air-conditioned accommodation for a total of 800 persons, with swimming pool, cinema, and other facilities. The SSCV is designed for worldwide service, and to operate in wave heights of 19.4 m and 35 m , and will be able to work in Force 8 conditions on the d.p. system without anchors. Principal particulars are:- length 190 m o.a., hull length 175 m; hull breadth 87 m; depth 35 m to main deck, 43.5 m to upper deck; depth of lower hulls 11.25/15.25 m; draught 20/27.5 m , 10.5 m , 18.5 m .
