ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: The aim was to find suitable approaches for the assessment and evaluation of bearing capacity measurements with the traffic speed deflectometer (TSD). The state of the art regarding bearing capacity measurements with the TSD is established with the help of an extensive, international literature study. The measuring principle is examined in detail. A further area of research is the empirical data available of TSD deployment. Regarding the introduction of possible bearing capacity characteristics which can be recorded or calculated with TSD measurements, a total of 26 bearing capacity parameters are identified, which are used in the international literature as characteristic values of the structural substance of pavements. The further analysis is initially based on an analysis of the influence of general conditions and correction methods on the quantitative characteristics of the bearing capacity parameters. It can be stated that the measuring speed has hardly any influence within the usual speed window (v > 20 km/h). The wheel load does have an influence, but if the wheel load is within the usual range of values, this can be compensated for by a linear correction approach. The temperature has a decisive influence, the correction approaches presented can also limit the influence to some extent, but these must be refined for the TSD measurement procedure. At the same time, the deformation bowl calculation methods are also analysed. The area-under-the-curve method (AUTC) and the method of Pedersen,L (see in: “Viscoelastic modelling of road deflections for use with the traffic speed deflectometer”, dissertation 2013) are compared. Slope and deformation values can be calculated using the parameter study in 3D-Move. The slope values were used to calculate deformation values using the two methods mentioned above and to compare them with the "real" data from 3D-Move. The result is that the AUTC method shows deviations due to the tail taming approach for stiff traffic surface pavements, whereas the approach according to Pedersen,L shows very good agreement throughout. In 3D-Move, a large number of simulations were carried out in which a wide variety of parameters were varied. For this purpose, all corresponding bearing capacity parameters are also calculated, resulting in a sensitivity analysis that allows statements about the respective bearing capacity parameter. This makes it clear that the parameters of the structural condition index (SCI) family, i.e. surface curvature indices, are very reliable parameters for describing the stiffness of the layer under consideration. The same applies to the characteristic values of the stiffness back calculation method (SBM). In addition, a large number of real measured data are used to investigate how good the repeatability of the individual load-bearing capacity parameters is - the temperature and construction dependency and the correlation to condition survey and assessment of roads data (ZEB data, at the level of state variables) are also investigated. The results show that the characteristics of the SCI family are very reliable, while the characteristic values of the SBM are subject to higher scatter. However, this is due to the calculation method: The associated regression function is based on only two to three Doppler lasers in the TVD test setup, so that it cannot be parameterized in a process-safe manner. The values of the SCI family, on the other hand, can be determined more reliably as a simple subtraction of two deformation values. The correlation analysis shows that there is no correlation whatsoever between ZEB parameters and load-bearing capacity parameters - the conclusion of state variables of the ZEB on the load-bearing capacity of the examined traffic surface pavement seems to be inadmissible. In conclusion, it can be stated that with the TSD and the listed bearing capacity parameters, the bearing capacity of traffic area pavements can be reliably and quickly recorded and evaluated. However, attention must be paid to the prevailing temperature conditions, as the smallest inhomogeneities can lead to incorrect results.]]> Wed, 23 Aug 2023 09:27:09 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2229122
