Combining these data with inverse dispersion modeling, the authors estimated BC and PN emission factors (EF[subscript BC] and EF[subscript PN]) for the mixed fleet, reflecting real-world driving conditions. The pollutants showed decreasing trends at both sites, but PN concentrations remained high at the canyon site considering the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. BC concentrations declined more rapidly than PN concentrations, showing a −9.4% and −4.9% annual decrease at the canyon and −7.2% and −0.5% at the rooftop site in the years 2013–2019. The EF[subscript BC] and EF[subscript PN] trends showed that the mitigation strategies for reducing particulate emissions for on-road vehicles were successful over the study period. However, the introduction of biofuels in the vehicle fleet —ethanol and later rapeseed methyl ester (RME)— increased the concentrations of particles with Dₚ < 10 nm before the adoption of particulate filters in the exhausts. Stricter Euro emission regulations, especially with diesel particulate filters (DPF) in Euro 5, 6, and VI vehicles, led to 66% decrease in EF[subscript BC] and 55% in EF[subscript PN]. Real-world EFBC surpassed HBEFA (Handbook Emission Factors for Road Transport) database values by 2.4–4.8 times; however, direct comparisons between real-world and HBEFA EFPN are difficult due to differences in lower cut-off sizes and measurement techniques. The authors' results underscore the necessity for revising the HBEFA database, updating laboratory testing methods and portable emission measuring systems (PEMS) measurements to account for liquid condensate contributions to PN measurements.]]> Fri, 15 Mar 2024 16:34:47 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2350114 Mixing carbon nanotubes with asphalt binder through a foaming process toward high-performance warm mix asphalt (WMA) https://trid.trb.org/View/2310463 Sun, 10 Mar 2024 16:16:08 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2310463 A comprehensive exploration of characteristics and source attribution of carbonaceous aerosols in PM₂.₅ in an East China megacity https://trid.trb.org/View/2316311 Fri, 08 Mar 2024 15:32:04 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2316311 Hydrogen-rich gas production via supercritical water gasification (SCWG) of oily sludge over waste tire-derived activated carbon impregnated with Ni: Characterization and optimization of activated carbon production https://trid.trb.org/View/2305059 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 11:31:33 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2305059 Use of Carbon Dots to Boost Energy Content of Biodiesel to Enable Next-Generation Hybrid Heavy Vehicles for Ground Transportation While Improving Safety https://trid.trb.org/View/2342031 Mon, 19 Feb 2024 17:07:51 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2342031 Experimental investigation of low carbon 3D printed concrete https://trid.trb.org/View/2314818 Wed, 14 Feb 2024 14:33:20 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2314818 Reduction of Soot Emission at a DI Diesel Engine by Additional Injection of Hydrogen Peroxide During Combustion https://trid.trb.org/View/1782252 Wed, 07 Feb 2024 16:52:59 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1782252 Organic carbon, elemental carbon and particulate semivolatile organic compound emissions from a common-rail diesel engine: Insight into effect of fuel injection pressure at different loads https://trid.trb.org/View/2316982 Wed, 31 Jan 2024 09:14:09 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2316982 Evaluating Carbon Reduction in Project Selection and Planning https://trid.trb.org/View/2329694 Wed, 31 Jan 2024 17:48:16 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2329694 Spongy porous carbon nanosheets obtained by one-step oxidation-activation of asphalt with KHC₂O₄ activator: Application in the cathode of zinc storage devices https://trid.trb.org/View/2308926 Wed, 24 Jan 2024 16:55:30 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2308926 Innovation and performance of lead smelting slag-based multi-solid waste pavement concrete materials: Ratio design, mechanical properties, hydration products, heavy metal leaching https://trid.trb.org/View/2317785 Wed, 24 Jan 2024 09:50:22 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2317785 The impact of multi-walled carbon nanotubes on the mechanical and environmental properties of porous concrete in removing pollutants for use in surface runoffs https://trid.trb.org/View/2300222 Thu, 18 Jan 2024 11:43:39 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2300222
