High-risk MVC was defined by authors in conjunction with definitions provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. From 8259 cases, 41% used a safety/booster seat. There was no difference in overall rate of serious traumatic injuries or mortality (both p > 0.05) between the safety/booster seat and no safety/booster seat groups. In a subset analysis of high-risk MVCs, the overall use of safety/booster seats was 56%. The rate of serious traumatic injury (53.6% vs. 62.1%, p = 0.017) and operative intervention (15.8% vs. 21.6%, p = 0.039) was lower in the safety/booster seat group compared to the no safety/booster seat group. Despite AAP guidelines, less than half of recommended children in the study population presenting to a trauma center after MVC used safety/booster seats. Pediatric patients involved in a high-risk MVC suffered more serious injuries and were more likely to require surgical intervention without a safety/booster seat. A public health program to increase adherence to safety/booster seat use within this population appears warranted.]]> Wed, 14 Feb 2024 14:42:54 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2334505 Effectiveness of the Load Legs in Enhancing the Passive Safety of Rear-Facing Child Seats in Frontal Crash https://trid.trb.org/View/2334985 Wed, 07 Feb 2024 11:27:48 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2334985 Child Passenger Safety Practices in Ride-Sharing Vehicles https://trid.trb.org/View/2325235 Wed, 24 Jan 2024 09:55:15 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2325235 Quantification of Infant Car Seat Vibration over a Mission Profile https://trid.trb.org/View/1973371 80%) observed for traffic lights. Approximately 58% of the sections of the mission profile indicated relative differences greater than the relative difference threshold of the 75th percentile adult occupant. Therefore, these variations are most likely large enough for certain sections of the mission profile to subject participants to different stimuli and, in turn, result in different cardiorespiratory responses.]]> Thu, 18 Jan 2024 11:37:28 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1973371 Child restraint system use in China, comparing theory of planned behavior, prototype willingness model, and integrative model https://trid.trb.org/View/2312966 Tue, 16 Jan 2024 09:03:26 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2312966 Restraint use within vehicles transporting child occupants in Dubai, United Arab Emirates: An observational study https://trid.trb.org/View/2312948 Tue, 16 Jan 2024 09:03:26 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2312948 Factors associated with booster seat use among Indigenous peoples in Canada https://trid.trb.org/View/2255848 Mon, 16 Oct 2023 14:01:22 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2255848 Differences in participant characteristics and observed child restraint use between population-based and restraint fitting service samples https://trid.trb.org/View/2255838 Mon, 16 Oct 2023 14:01:22 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2255838 Comparison of child and ATD belt fit and posture on belt-positioning boosters during self-selected, holding device, and nominal conditions https://trid.trb.org/View/2247714 Thu, 05 Oct 2023 09:31:28 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2247714 Statistical Analysis of Influential Factors of Traffic Accident Casualty Severity for Children https://trid.trb.org/View/2237657 Wed, 27 Sep 2023 13:12:11 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2237657 Preliminary Study on Crash Pulse Influence for Child ATD Response in Child Restraint Systems https://trid.trb.org/View/2219441 Fri, 22 Sep 2023 08:52:47 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2219441 Parents' knowledge and socio-demographic determinants toward child's restraint system use https://trid.trb.org/View/2208713 Wed, 13 Sep 2023 10:23:12 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2208713
