Low-pitch marine cycloidal propellers are used in applications with low-speed maneuvering requirements, such as tugboats and minesweepers. In this study, the effects of blade number on hydrodynamic performance of low-pitch marine cycloidal propeller with pure cycloidal motion of the blades are investigated. The turbulent flow around marine cycloidal propeller is solved using a 2.5D numerical method based on unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations with shear-stress transport k–ω turbulent model. The presented numerical method was validated against experimental data and showed good agreement. The results showed that the thrust coefficient of marine cycloidal propeller generally decreases by increasing the blade number, whereas the torque coefficient increases. Consequently, the hydrodynamic efficiency of marine cycloidal propeller drops as the blade number increases.]]> Tue, 26 May 2020 10:43:50 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1698027 Estimation of turbulent boundary layer induced noise using energy flow analysis for ship hull designs https://trid.trb.org/View/1682012 Fri, 27 Mar 2020 09:03:12 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1682012 An experimental investigation into the surface and hydrodynamic characteristics of marine coatings with mimicked hull roughness ranges https://trid.trb.org/View/1638822 Mon, 23 Mar 2020 12:03:40 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1638822 Aerodynamic Behavior of Formula Student Open-Wheel Race Car Model with Regard to Head Restraint/Rear Wing Interaction https://trid.trb.org/View/1561093 Fri, 20 Dec 2019 16:23:17 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1561093 Passive Drag Reduction via Bionic Hull Coatings https://trid.trb.org/View/1652537 Mon, 28 Oct 2019 10:31:31 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1652537 Turbulent Pressure Spectra for Separated Flow Conditions https://trid.trb.org/View/1631115 Wed, 21 Aug 2019 09:35:50 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1631115 Structural Vibration of an Elastically Supported Plate due to Excitation of a Turbulent Boundary Layer https://trid.trb.org/View/1631110 Wed, 21 Aug 2019 09:35:49 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1631110 Wind Noise Transmission Loss for Separated Flow Conditions https://trid.trb.org/View/1631109 Wed, 21 Aug 2019 09:35:49 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/1631109
