Several subgroups emerged in the psychosocial autopsy interviews, which specifically reflect populations at risk of railway suicide. These subgroups were [1] young adult males with autism spectrum disorder who strived for more autonomy and an independent life, [2] young adult females with persistent suicidal thoughts and behaviors, [3] middle-aged males with a persistent mood disorder who lived with family and who faced stressors proximal to the suicide in personal and professional settings, [4] male out-of-the-blue suicides and [5] persons with psychotic symptoms and a rapid deterioration. Based on the findings the authors propose and discuss several recommendations to prevent railway suicide. Society must continue to invest in a safe railway environment by training personnel and installing barriers. Additionally, the authors recommend the adoption of prevention strategies that align the needs of subgroups at increased risk, including young females who have attempted other methods of suicide and young males with autism spectrum disorder. Future research should determine the cost-effectiveness and feasibility of low-maintenance, automated interventions near crossings and psychiatric facilities.]]> Fri, 22 Mar 2024 17:04:52 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2350892 Fatigue in taxi drivers and its relationship with traffic accident history and experiences: A cross-sectional study in the north of Iran https://trid.trb.org/View/2348160 Fri, 22 Mar 2024 17:04:52 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2348160 Safety risk assessment of subway shield construction under-crossing a river using CFA and FER https://trid.trb.org/View/2348159 Fri, 22 Mar 2024 17:04:52 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2348159 Association between residential proximity to major roadways and chronic multimorbidity among Chinese older adults:A nationwide cross-sectional study https://trid.trb.org/View/2338568 = 60. The authors derived the residential proximity to major roadways from self-reported data, defining chronic multimorbidity as the presence of two or more concurrent chronic diseases. A binary logistic regression model was utilized to investigate the association between residential proximity to major roadways and chronic multimorbidity. The model accounted for some demographic features, socioeconomic conditions, social participation, and health conditions. Subsequently, the authors conducted subgroup analyses to examine potential interaction effects. Residential proximity to major roadways was associated with chronic multimorbidity, even after adjusting for confounding factors. Compared with those living > 300 m from major roadways, the OR for those living 201-300 m, 101-200 m, 50-100 m, and < 50 m were increased. When subgroup analyses were conducted using a cutoff point of 200 m, the risk of chronic multimorbidity associated with residential proximity to major roadways was stronger in participants with education levels > 6 years (P = 0.017). The findings provide important implications for improving residential area siting, transportation policies, and environmental regulations to reduce the risk of chronic multimorbidity caused by traffic-related exposure.]]> Fri, 22 Mar 2024 17:04:52 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2338568 Subjective awareness of sleepiness while driving in younger and older adults https://trid.trb.org/View/2329600 Fri, 22 Mar 2024 17:04:52 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2329600 Screening for Coronary Artery Disease in Asymptomatic Pilots with Diabetes Mellitus https://trid.trb.org/View/2352287 Fri, 22 Mar 2024 17:04:52 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2352287 Safety and impact assessment for seamless interactions through human-machine interfaces: indicators and practical considerations https://trid.trb.org/View/2314983 Fri, 22 Mar 2024 17:03:56 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2314983 Stress influence on real-world driving identified by monitoring heart rate variability and morphologic variability of electrocardiogram signals: The case of intercity roads https://trid.trb.org/View/2342117 Wed, 20 Mar 2024 17:10:07 GMT https://trid.trb.org/View/2342117
