      <description><![CDATA[This plan is a description of the proposed methods for evaluating the entire TravTek system. The plan incorporates input from all of the TravTek partners:  General Motors (GM); Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); American Automobile Association (AAA); Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT); and the City of Orlando. The plan encompasses a diverse range of concerns including: Human factors; Marketing issues; System concerns; Global IVHS interests; Safety issues; Economic questions. This plan provides an outline of the studies and preliminary cost estimates associated with each part. This plan is designed to pull together the objectives of all the TravTek partners and meet each of their needs. This plan also provides a document that defines the data needs of the TravTek system to ensure that the correct data is collected and stored. The plan revolves around ten basic evaluation approaches.       <title>TRAVTEK OPERATIONAL TEST EVALUATION : FINAL REPORTS : TECHNICAL SUMMARY</title>

      <description><![CDATA[TravTek, short for "Travel Technology", was an ITS operational field test.  The purpose of TravTek was to perform research, development test, and evaluation of ATIS and ATMS concepts. TravTek was performed under a joint public and private partnership. The TravTek system consisted of three major components: 100 TravTek vehicles, the Orlando Traffic Management Center (TMC), and the TravTek Information and Services Center (TISC). The TravTek vehicles were equipped with route planning and route guidance software and hardware and a directory of local services and attractions. To support the conduct of research studies, vehicles were configured with different levels of ATIS capabilities.       <title>MODELLING OF TRAVTEK'S DYNAMIC ROUTE GUIDANCE LOGIC USING THE INTEGRATION MODEL</title>

      <description><![CDATA[This thesis describes the enhancements and extension of the INTEGRATION simulation model's features for representing the routing behavior of vehicles that have varying levels of access to Route Guidance Systems ( RGS), in order to better model the performance and benefits of proposed RGS.  The thesis develops and demonstrates alternative approaches for microscopically modelling vehicles within generic RGS, which may have different system architectures (distributed or centralized), and different routing objectives (user or system oriented).  In addition, the modelling of the specific routing behavior of General Motors' vehicles equipped with the TravTEk RGS logic, which is currently being tested in Orlando, is illustrated. Finally, various tools for modelling the routing behavior and response of non-guided background vehicles are developed and demonstrated.  The thesis concludes with a series of sample sensitivity analyses of the travel time benefits of the TravTek route guidance logic, with respect to various system, network and traffic parameters.]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[This paper reports on a study which evaluated consumer acceptance of variations of TravTek, a currently available Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS), using videotaped demonstrations.  Principal Factor Analyses resulted in patterns of desired features and other composite variables used in regression analyses.  Basic map features and voice features were the two dominant feature patterns.  Other composite variables included understanding of the system capabilities trust, self-confidence, tolerance of system errors, demonstration fidelity and attention.  Results of the regression analyses indicated that different variables were significant predictors of each pattern of desired features.]]></description>

The vehicles were equipped with route planning , route guidance, traveler information, moving maps and turn-by-turn guidance displays.  Evaluation data used the following measures:  perceptions of utility, ease of use, safety, driver workload, frequency of system use, and estimates of willingness-to-pay.
