      <title>ANALYSIS OF WOOD-PEG CONNECTED TIMBER FRAMES</title>

      <description><![CDATA[Wood-peg connected timber frames require the use of an analysis procedure that accounts for the connection behavior.  The peg stiffness can be modeled using short elements whose axial stiffness is determined assuming that the peg acts as a simply supported beam with a concentrated load at mid span.  This approach has been shown to work when compared to test data on the behavior of a single connection.  This modeling approach has been extended to a fairly large frame to examine the sensitivity of the frame to various modeling assumptions, particularly the effects of member-to-member contact at a joint.  If the effects of contact are not accounted for, estimations of some load effects may be underestimated by more than 100%, although most under estimations are 25% or less.]]></description>
